The LOBA committee decided not to continue with the web site after 8 years on the net, as there are only 2 more years to I am financing the LOBA web site with my own money and the site will close with Lyneham in 2012.

The End of RAF Lyneham

RAF Lyneham is to close by 31st December 2012. It had been hoped that a plan to base a combined force of RAF and RN helicopters there, under 'Project Belvedere' have fallen through. The current plans (July 09) is the C-130K and C-130J fleets will move to RAF Brize Norton in the summer of 2011 and RAF Lyneham will be vacated by the end of 2012.

There is also further bad news I'm afraid the DH Comet Gate Guard has been inspected by the RAF Museum and has heavy corrosion and was going to be scrapped summer 2009!. A decision on her future will be made in 2010 so please email the RAF Museum if you want to save Sagittarius, can we move her to Kemble to join her ex Lyneham Bristol Britannia ??
